Firestone Building Products, located on East Highway 31 in Corsicana, recently donated $2,500 to the Navarro College Foundation. The Corsicana Firestone plant began operations in Corsicana in 2004 and manufactures roofing insulation materials. The facility has 31 employees. As a member of the local community, Firestone supports various educational and charitable endeavors in the Corsicana area.
Members of the Corsicana Kiwanis Club recently made 40 blankets for the Navarro County Child Advocacy Center to distribute to the children they serve. The fourth annual "Moonlight and Magnolias" Antebellum Ball will be held at the Cook Education Center on Jan. 19, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event includes a catered dinner, tours of the Pearce Collections Museum, a Civil War era dance, and a silent auction. This year's ball is sponsored by the PCW Museum, the J.L. Halbert Camp, #359 Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Val Verde Camp, #36, TSOCR.

This year's recipient of the David Andrew Redford Memorial Scholarship is Sarah Hall, a Navarro College sophomore from Burleson, Texas. When Harold Tipping graduated from Blooming Grove High School in 1953, Navarro College was really his only choice for continuing his education.
