Admission and Information Session Dates
The Navarro College Vocational Nursing Program is accredited by: The Board of Nurse Examiners of Texas
Students who complete the twelve month program of the Vocational Nursing Program receive a Certificate of Completion. They are prepared to make application for licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Licensed Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-PN).
Career Opportunities as a Vocational Nurse
Vocational nursing prepares practical nurses to assist in providing care in a variety of health agencies in acute or conditions of adults and children. Further education and experience provides opportunities for development and advancement.
Pathways to Educational Advancement
Licensed Vocational Nurses have the option of applying to the LVN-RN Bridge Program of the A.D.N. Generic Program after one year of work experience.
Degree Planning
Students may complete non-nursing academic courses prior to admission to the LVN Program. Counselors are available for assistance with degree planning.
Nursing Practice Information
As an organization that has 10 or more Registered Nurses on staff, Navarro College has a Peer Review Committee process as required by the Texas Board of Nursing. One purpose of the Peer Review Committee is to review the merits of complaints concerning a nurse employed by Navarro College or the nursing care provided by a nurse employed by Navarro College and to make a determination or recommendation regarding the complaint.
Navarro College and the Navarro College Associate Degree Nursing Program and Vocational Nursing Program use this web site and other means to inform the public about nursing practice information. Navarro College professional nurses maintain established professional and ethical standards and adhere to all Texas Board of Nursing rules.
Any person who has knowledge of unprofessional conduct or malpractice by an RN or LVN employed by Navarro College may report that complaint to the Chair of the Peer Review Committee, Patricia Lucas RN, at phone number 903-875-7558.
